When practicing face yoga please remember to:
Practice most poses with a mirror until you are confident without one. Some will always require a mirror.
In addition to poses, remember your favorite stretches & releases for your own practice.
Keep the skin hydrated while practicing & after. Water & moisturizer.
Sit up nice & tall; engage your core.
Keep the neck, shoulders & face relaxed. Shoulders always down & back.
Should you feel any discomforts, you need to come out of the pose a bit & BREATHE...maybe drop the shoulders down & back, adjust posture & then practice accordingly!
Did I mention breathe? ALWAYS BREATHE - during poses & between sets.
Don't push your hands into the face or face into the hands so much that you are causing discomfort in the neck or shoulders. Refer to above.
Be mindful to not create any additional wrinkles with your hand or finger placements - placements should be gentle, but firm enough to hold the pose.
DON'T lift the eyebrows - but practice opening the eyes wide. Most poses require that. You can use your hand to prevent lifting until muscle memory kicks in.
Corners of the mouth up. A sweet smile helps especially when working on the upper face.
Don't forget to counter pose when needed; break between sets.
